Maintenance of Certification Part IV: Improvement in Medical Practice

The American Board of Medical Specialties’ (ABMS) Multispecialty Portfolio Program (MSPP) offers an alternate Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Part IV pathway that promotes broader physician involvement in systems-level maternal safety and quality improvement efforts.

Participation in quality improvement efforts approved by the ACOG MSPP allows physicians to earn MOC Part IV: Improvement in Medical Practice credit from their ABMS member board. To date, 20 out of 24 ABMS Medical Boards participate in the MSPP.

ACOG became an ABMS MSPP sponsor organization in October 2016. The initial ACOG MSPP quality improvement effort offered was the Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (AIM). Additional eligible quality improvement efforts have and continue to be added to the ACOG portfolio.

If you are interested in participating in the ACOG MSPP through AIM or another quality improvement effort, please email [email protected] for more information.
