Effective today, May 12, 2023, Christopher M. Zahn, MD, FACOG, will assume the role of interim chief executive officer of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). Dr. Zahn was most recently chief of clinical practice and health equity and quality. He has proven his dedication to ACOG, its membership, and the organization’s commitment to excellence throughout his decades of service as both a member of staff and a volunteer leader.

In assuming the role, Dr. Zahn replaces Maureen G. Phipps, MD, MPH, FACOG. Dr. Phipps has held the role since 2019.

“We are grateful to Dr. Phipps for her leadership and service to ACOG members and staff, particularly during these challenging times,” said Iffath Abbasi Hoskins, MD, FACOG, president of ACOG. “Her enduring commitment to ACOG’s mission and values has been essential to the strong foundation of our organization.”

ACOG’s Board of Directors will commence a national search for the next CEO of ACOG.
