ACOG Launches New Seasonal Flu Campaign: ACOG Fights Flu

This flu season, ACOG is launching a new member campaign, ACOG Fights Flu, to show patients and communities our commitment to reducing the burden of influenza illness. Last year we experienced unprecedentedly low flu activity across the country. This is likely due to individuals taking preventive precautions during the pandemic, such as frequent handwashing, mask-wearing, and staying home. Now, as communities begin to get back to their favorite fall activities, we expect to see the reemergence of respiratory illnesses, including the flu.

The cocirculation of flu and SARS-CoV-2 viruses may present new challenges for our already-overburdened health care systems around the country. As such, it’s more critical than ever that everyone receive a flu vaccine this fall. The CDC and ACOG urge all practitioners to vaccinate patients six months of age and older against the flu, including all individuals who are or will become pregnant during flu season.

The CDC and ACOG recommend that all health care practitioners get vaccinated annually against the flu. This flu season, lead by example and get involved by joining the ACOG Fights Flu campaign. It’s simple: print one of our signs to have with you while you’re getting vaccinated, have someone snap your picture while getting your flu shot, and post the picture to social media using the hashtag #ACOGFightsFlu!
