A New Year's Message from ACOG
As we look back on 2020 and set our sights on the new year to come, we at ACOG would like to pause to acknowledge all that our members have experienced this year.
Many of you have spent your time working on the COVID floors or risking exposure while caring for your patients. You have opened your practice doors in the midst of the shutdown to see a breast cancer survivor who believes she found a new lump in her breast. You have counseled families over Zoom about how to start their fertility journey. You had to furlough staff who are like family, worried about adequate PPE supply, and counted down until the approval of a vaccine.
You have, in all likelihood, known those who have been lost. You have missed your loved ones over the holidays, you have struggled with remote learning for your children, or been waylaid by travel restrictions that kept you from seeing your family for so many months.
At the same time, you have inspired so many and you continue to inspire those who work to support you at ACOG. The innovation and dedication of our members has touched countless lives over the last 10 months.
Next year will be unlike any that has come before, but thanks to the science that drew us to a career in medicine in the first place, we can look to 2021 with renewed optimism. Next year, as always, ACOG will be here for you.
Happy holidays,
Eva Chalas, MD, FACOG, FACS, President
Maureen G. Phipps, MD, MPH, Chief Executive Officer
