Update: ACOG Continues to Work to Secure Financial Relief for Obstetrician-Gynecologists

This week ACOG continued our steadfast advocacy work to secure financial relief for obstetrician-gynecologists. We sent another letter to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), urging them to immediately send relief funds to obstetrics and gynecology practices who have been excluded from federal relief to date. ACOG also recognizes that many of your practices that have received funds are still facing financial strain, so we also recommended that HHS make targeted payments to all women’s health practices. These targeted payments would help further offset the losses your practices have experienced and provide longer term stability. 

Also this week, a bipartisan group of leaders from the House and Senate sent a letter to the Secretary of Health and Human Services, urging him to disburse federal relief funds to obstetrician-gynecologists and other practitioners who care for patients enrolled in Medicaid. These members of Congress publicly stated the same concerns ACOG has previously expressed regarding the inequitable methodology HHS has used to allocate funds to date. 

More than 335 ACOG members have also joined in these advocacy efforts by urging HHS to immediately direct funds to obstetrician-gynecologists. Thank you to all of you who took action. Your voices are helping us send a clear message to the Administration. If you haven’t sent a letter to HHS yet, there’s still time! 

ACOG will continue our outreach to HHS and discussions with members of Congress to make sure our message is heard: it is vital that your obstetrics and gynecology practices receive the financial support you need.
