The following is a statement from Iffath Abbasi Hoskins, MD, FACOG, president of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists:

"The result of yesterday's ballot initiative in Kansas demonstrates that people wholeheartedly reject legislative interference into the practice of medicine. The voters of Kansas understand that, when clinicians are prohibited from providing patients with the care they need, women and people suffer. Although the vote does not overturn the many unnecessary and burdensome restrictions on abortion care already in place in Kansas, we are pleased that access to essential health care, including abortion, will remain intact for the women and people in Kansas and in the region, and we celebrate with our members who can continue to provide their patients with comprehensive medical care."
