Duke Obstetrics and Gynecology Quality and Safety in Women’s Health FellowshipDurham, North Carolina

The Duke Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology’s one-year fellowship program in Quality and Safety in Women’s Health is the first of its kind in the country; we trained our first fellow during the 202223 academic year. Our goal is to train obstetrician/gynecologists and subspecialists to improve health care through an understanding of the principles, design and conduct of quality improvement (QI) and patient safety initiatives. Graduates of this program will have the knowledge and experience to become leaders in quality and safety in women’s healthcare. Graduates of this program should expect to assume formal quality and safety leadership roles in their next appointments.

The program accepts one fellow per year and will provide training in the areas of quality improvement, patient safety and practice-based improvement.

The application for the 2023-2024 fellowship cycle will close on October 31, 2023 at noon EST. Applications received after this time will not be considered by the selection committee. Interviews are held in November and December for an August 1, 2024 start date. The University of North Carolina General Obstetrics and Gynecology Research Fellowship

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is committed to developing the next generation of well-trained clinical researchers in Obstetrics and Gynecology in order to advance health and wellbeing across the lifespan. To achieve this goal, the Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology in collaboration with the Master’s in Clinical Research Program within the Department of Epidemiology at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, offers a 2-year clinical-research fellowship with the aim to increase the number of academic specialists pursuing successful faculty careers, engaging in clinical care, research, and teaching.

As part of the program, fellows obtain formal didactic training, expert mentoring and develop a clear research plan. Fellows receive training and a Master’s in Clinical Research (MSCR) through the Department of Epidemiology within the School of Public Health. Fellows begin the 2-year program in July and spend the first few months developing a training plan that is tailored to their background, clinical and research interests, and future career goals. During this time, fellows devote time to identifying their primary research mentor and developing their research teams. Fellows actively engage in clinical activities, including outpatient care, labor and delivery, in-service gynecology attending and gynecologic surgery. In addition to clinical and research experience, our goal is for fellows to develop strong leadership skills, enhance their communications abilities and learn to lead clinical and research teams.

Our division has 2-year Fellowship positions. Applicants must have a Medical Degree (MD/DO), have completed an approved residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, be in good standing within their residency program and a strong track record of professionalism. Fellows are selected based on their academic record, research interests, commitment to a career as an academic specialist (generalist) and demonstrated excellence in clinical care.

The 2- year fellowship begins on July 1, 2024 and ends June 30, 2026.

Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School/Rutgers New Jersey Medical School

20242025 Academic Year

The Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences Department at Rutgers University has one opening for a fellow in their Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Program. This is a new program, so we are interviewing outside the match this year.

The Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Program is an ACGME approved 3-year program, with 1 year of dedicated research and 2 clinical years focusing on inpatient and outpatient management of patients with gynecologic malignancies. At the completion of training, graduating fellows will have gained competency in all major gynecological/oncological surgical procedures, chemotherapeutic and radiotherapeutic management with gynecological malignancies; urologic and bowel procedures as it relates to gynecologic malignancy management and be able to provide excellent care to patients who present with preinvasive diseases as well. The fellow will also become an excellent consultant and be able to provide recommendations as well as manage patients who present with gynecologic malignancies and those that need complex gynecologic surgical procedures.

To qualify for the Gynecologic Fellowship Program, applicants must:

  • have satisfactorily completed residency training in an accredited residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology by June 2024
  • be board eligible or board certified

Oregon Health & Science University Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship

Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is accepting applications for a first year (PGY5) fellow position to the Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Fellowship. This position will start August 1, 2023. This is a three-year ACGME-accredited program preparing fellows for certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The OHSU MFM Fellowship started in 1982. OHSU is the only academic medical center in Oregon, and its hospital and associated clinics are expanding rapidly. The main campus is located near downtown Portland with a beautiful view of Mt. Hood and the Willamette River.

We are seeking a fellow dedicated to a career in academics who has the potential for substantial contributions to MFM through research, leadership and/or education. This program strives to position fellows for career success through a balanced mix of extensive clinical and research training, professionalism and cultural competency.

The OHSU MFM Fellowship desires to create leaders and innovators in the field of maternal-fetal medicine. We provide a vast array of research (e.g., basic, translational and clinical approaches), clinical (e.g., maternal, fetal, ultrasound, combined MFM-MGG), leadership and educational opportunities (e.g., teaching residents and students) so that our fellows may reach their individual career goals and be provided a solid foundation to achieve board certification and thrive as an exemplary MFM. UC Irvine OB/GYN Hospitalist Fellowship Program, Irvine, California

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for the OB/GYN Hospitalist Fellowship Program. The OB/GYN Hospitalist Fellowship Program is the first in the country to offer an interdepartmental hospital-based curriculum. This program is a two-year fellowship designed to provide high quality, advanced education in hospital-based obstetrics and gynecology focused on maximizing patient safety It provides a strong blend of clinical, surgical, and healthcare systems training in both academic and community-based hospital settings. Upon completion, fellows will graduate with a Masters in Applied Science in Patient Safety and Quality. This fellowship is designed for physicians specifically interested in gaining skills to become leaders in hospital medicine.

Requirements: Candidate must have completed an accredited four-year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. A graduate of a foreign medical school must have a standard ECFMG certificate and completed postgraduate training in the United States. Fellows will be required to have a California license, in addition to being ABOG Board Eligible or Board Certified.

Responsibilities will include providing patient care, teaching clinical programs, performing University and public service, and demonstrating professional competency and activity. Fellows will rotate through a high-risk Labor and Delivery unit as well as consulting in Emergency Room and other units at the University Hospital, in addition to having significant exposure to a community-based private practice population. Fellows will complete coursework for a Masters program, which is offered online.

2024–25 Academic Year Timeline: Applications will be accepted starting July 1, 2023. We will continue to accept applications until October 2, 2023. Virtual Interviews will be held on October 6, 2023. Fellowship commencement is August 1, 2024.

Grayken Fellowship in Addiction Medicine: Ob/Gyn Track

The mission of the Grayken Fellowship in Addiction Medicine is to prepare physician leaders for careers in Addiction Medicine to improve the health and wellness of people who use substances through clinical care, research, education, advocacy, and public health. The program is invested in Boston Medical Center's commitment to provide “exceptional care without exception,” which includes intentionally addressing the health and wellness inequities faced by people due to discrimination by race, ethnicity, poverty, age, gender, sexual orientation, disability and stigmatizing illness.

The Grayken Addiction Medicine Fellowship Program is a 1 or 2 year fellowship. Year 1 is clinically-focused on fulfilling the requirements for board certification in addiction medicine. Focus areas include adolescent and young adults, homeless healthcare, medical education, community health, low barrier substance use disorder treatment and women’s health. Year 2 is focused on mentored research projects and typically includes a Master’s of Science in Epidemiology or Health Services Research. There is also a 3-year combined Infectious Disease-Addiction Medicine Fellowship and a 2-year Fellowship in OB/GYN and Addiction. Fellows are mentored by our multidisciplinary faculty from Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Infectious Disease, Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology and Addiction Psychiatry. The Grayken Fellowship in Addiction Medicine is accredited by the ACGME.

Cleveland Clinic, Ob/Gyn and Women's Health Institute

The Cleveland Clinic is currently recruiting its first OBGYN Hospitalist fellow in Cleveland, Ohio to start August 1, 2024. The fellowship is a two-year multidisciplinary experience. The OBGYN Hospitalist fellowship program at Cleveland Clinic has all the elements to be one of the best fellowship training programs in the country. We offer a diverse core faculty of academic specialists and subspecialists including Hospitalists and Laborists, MFM, MIGS, FPMRS, and GYN ONC. Additionally, we have a high obstetric and surgical volume as well as research productivity and interaction with superior residents in the first tracking OBGYN residency program in the country.

During the fellowship program, fellows will have the unique opportunity to obtain a Master of Business Administration or a Master of Public Health Degree from Cleveland State University. Time has been allotted in the fellow's rotation schedules to allow completion of coursework in an online or a hybrid online/in-person format, so the degree will be completed within the two years of the fellowship program.

To qualify for this fellowship, applicants must:

  • have completed either an ACGME or RCPSC accredited obstetrics and gynecology residency program
  • be Board eligible or Board certified

Spectrum Health/Michigan State University Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship

The Spectrum Health/Michigan State University Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship is accepting applications for a first year (PGY5) fellow position. This position will start July 1, 2023.

We are committed to providing the best academic and clinical training program for our fellows. This three-year ACGME-accredited program prepares our fellows for certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

NYU Langone Hospital, Ob/Gyn Hospitalist Fellowship

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island in Mineola, NY is now accepting applications for its 1-year Ob/Gyn Hospitalist Fellowship program starting July 1, 2023.

The Department of Ob/Gyn at NYU Langone Hospital–Long Island has an established, excellent Ob/Gyn hospitalist fellowship since 2013. Clinical training is provided by faculty members who work closely with the fellow. The program offers the fellow the experience to manage critical care obstetric and urgent and emergent gynecologic procedures in preparation for a hospitalist career.

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island is the Clinical Campus for the NYU Long Island School of Medicine. It is a tertiary (Level III) care center with over 5,000 deliveries and over 3,000 surgical gynecological procedures annually. NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island has its own independent fully-accredited Ob/Gyn residency program (5 residents per PGY level) and an independent Fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine.

 In addition to the Ob/Gyn Hospitalist Division, the Department has the following divisions: Maternal-Fetal Medicine, General Ob/Gyn, Gynecologic Oncology, Urogynecology, Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility and Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgery.

The University of New Mexico (UNM) Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstruction Surgery (FPMRS) Fellowship is accepting applications for an open first year (PGY5) fellow position. This position will start August 1, 2023.

Our program is an ACGME-accredited training program with a long history of outstanding surgical experience, research and scholarly activity, and a diverse and skilled set of teaching faculty. We withdrew from the 2022 Match due to changes in our faculty at the time, and are now seeking to fill that position outside of the match process. We desire a qualified applicant interested in surgical training with a wide array of modalities, has demonstrated interest in research and academic pursuits, and seeks to work in a busy clinical service with a diverse and unique patient population.

Baylor College of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Texas Children's Hospital Pavilion for Women

The Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Texas Children's Hospital (TCH) Pavilion for Women is currently accepting applications for a one-year OB/GYN Hospitalist Fellowship beginning August 2023. The purpose of this fellowship will be to undergo training to develop advanced skills with an emphasis on patient safety and evidence-based practice. Fellows will become expert in the management of obstetrical and gynecologic emergencies, critical care of patients, and interdisciplinary teamwork.

Located in the Texas Medical Center, TCH Pavilion for Women does almost 6,000 deliveries annually and offers full gynecology and other specialty care for women of all ages. As a high-risk obstetrical referral center, the hospital provides vast exposure to many different maternal and fetal conditions. Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Lower Anogenital Screening and Treatment Fellowship

The Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Division of Gynecologic Oncology is seeking applicants for a 1-year fellowship in Lower Anogenital Screening & Treatment. The fellowship is accepting applications to begin in July 2023.

This program is designed to provide in-depth training to obstetrician-gynecologists in colposcopy and anoscopy techniques for female and male patients. Fellows will be trained in colposcopy and high-resolution anoscopy by experienced, credentialed faculty.  Fellows will develop skills in the evaluation and treatment of cervical and anal dysplasia, as well as other complex conditions affecting the lower female genital tract.

The fellow will have an appointment at the Associate level, will receive clinical and surgical training, and will provide inpatient (including Labor and Delivery) and outpatient services. The fellow will participate in patient care at Emory University Hospitals, Clinics, Grady Memorial Hospital, and other affiliated sites. Fellows will attend didactics and weekly Grand Rounds, and they will actively participate in teaching residents and medical students. The fellow is expected to be engaged in their own active research project, which will culminate in a presentation during the Department’s Resident and Fellow Research Day at the end of the year. The fellow will have the opportunity to be involved in international outreach and education around cervical cancer in Latin America.

Obstetrics Hospitalist Fellowship, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN

The Obstetrics Hospitalist Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, is a two-year training program for obstetrics and gynecology physicians who desire to pursue a career track in academic obstetrics hospital medicine. The goal of the fellowship is to train fellows who will assume leadership roles in safety and quality, ensure best practices and protocols are followed, and lead a multidisciplinary team in the management of inpatient obstetric patients. Graduates of this program will teach residents and medical students as well as provide consultation to and collaboration with physicians, certified nurse midwives, and other advanced practice providers.

The fellowship offers exposure to low-risk and complex high-risk pregnancies and the management of medical, obstetrical, and surgical complications affecting these patients. In addition to clinical work, all fellows complete the Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCaTS) Postdoctoral Certificate Program offered through the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. This certificate program further prepares you for an academic career and pursuit of research opportunities and scholarly activity.

University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Addiction Medicine Fellowship Perinatal Track, Pittsburgh, PA

The UPMC Medical Education Addiction Medicine Fellowship is now accepting applications from obstetrician-gynecologists interested in developing expertise in perinatal addiction medicine. Our one-year fellowship program was accredited by the ACGME in 2020, and will qualify physicians to sit for the Addiction Medicine boards. The Perinatal Track is sponsored by the UPMC Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in collaboration with the Division of General Internal Medicine.

The Perinatal Track fellow will have a weekly continuity clinic at the Women’s’ Recovery Clinic at Magee Women’s Hospital, and spend a third of their year in rotations at Magee. They will have the opportunity for ongoing general obstetrics and gynecology clinical exposure during their fellowship year in order to maintain their skills. The Perinatal Track fellow will also be included in the educational opportunities that are provided to the two other Addiction Medicine fellows, including motivational interviewing training, weekly addiction medicine didactics and case reviews, and clinical exposures to general inpatient addiction medicine, detoxification settings, and a methadone clinic.

University of Utah, Women's Health Equity Fellowship 

The University of Utah Women's Health Equity (WHE) Fellowship is designed as a two-year post-residency clinical fellowship, which aims to address health equity for women in low resource settings. WHE Fellows will work and learn in diverse settings with University partners in Kigali, Rwanda, as well as Fort Defiance, Arizona, through the Indian Health Service (IHS). Fellows will receive training in clinical care, research conduct and interpretation, and cultural, ethical, and health systems concepts related to working in low-resource settings in the U.S., and globally.

By the end of two-year fellowship, trainees will have completed the following:

Clinical Fellowship in Reproductive Medicine and Immunology, Chicago Medical School

The Reproductive Medicine and Immunology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Clinical Sciences Department, Chicago Medical School, Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science is offering a two-year fellow position for the Reproductive Medicine and Immunology Fellowship Program. The 24-month clinical training rotation will offer a graduating OB/GYN resident or junior faculty member in the Department of OB/GYN an opportunity to become a nationally recognized expert in the management of women with early pregnancy loss, recurrent pregnancy losses, implantation failures, pregnancy with auto-/allo-immune conditions and rheumatic diseases. The fellowship will also provide extensive experience with gynecological and obstetrical ultrasound imaging. In addition, the fellow will work with clinical laboratory immunology faculties and learn about various immunological assays. Rotations with other specialties are available, including reproductive endocrinology and infertility, maternal fetal medicine, minimally invasive surgery, and rheumatology. Through the Clinical Fellowship in Reproductive Medicine and Immunology, Chicago Medical School aims to train and develop physician-scientists, by providing them with the knowledge and clinical expertise to care for this growing population of women and to serve as educators and program directors in the replication of this program at other academic centers around the country. This is a non-accredited fellowship.

The position of clinical fellow entails provision of patient care matching with the individual physician's level of advancement and competence. A clinical fellow's responsibilities include patient care activities within the scope of their clinical privileges commensurate with the level of training, completion of a research project to further the field of reproductive immunology, attendance of clinical rounds, seminars and conferences, timely completion of medical records, and other responsibilities as assigned or as required of all members of the medical staff.

Required education and experience includes:

  • Graduate of a foreign or domestic medical school.
  • Completed at least four years of approved residency training in obstetrics and gynecology within the U.S.

Required knowledge skills and abilities include:

  • Patient care working with a diverse population.

Fellowship in Advanced OBGYN, Women's Health, at University of Buffalo, Kaleida Health

The OBGYN, Women's Health Fellowship Program is a one-year, non-ACGME accredited training program intended to advance the career of the fellow by providing advanced training opportunities.

The objective is to allow additional time in training to foster expertise in areas of interest and to develop skill in advanced gynecological and obstetrical management, as well as leadership opportunities. In collaboration with current leadership, the PGY5 fellow will work closely with the chief resident to ensure appropriate coverage of hospital patient care.

The fellowship program also provides advanced education and leadership in hospital-based and ambulatory-based obstetrics and gynecology. Possible foci include quality and safety; operating room management; medical student and resident education; advanced gynecological surgery; interdisciplinary women's health. The program is designed for a tailored experience to allow for career development. In collaboration with faculty and under the guidance and supervision of the fellowship director, the fellow will design an advanced experience in gynecology and obstetrics. Areas of focus may include family planning, surgical and ambulatory gynecology, office management, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, laborist/hospitalist medicine, quality and safety, and medical informatics. The Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and the University at Buffalo SUNY offer robust graduate training programs that include the School of Business, Public Health, Engineering, Pharmacy, and Law. We also have schools in the allied health professions and all the basic science.

Emory University School of Medicine Lower Anogenital Screening and Treatment Fellowship, Atlanta, GA

The Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Division of Gynecologic Specialties is seeking applicants for a 1-year fellowship in Lower Anogenital Screening and Treatment. The fellowship is accepting applications to begin in July 2022.

This program is designed to provide in-depth training to obstetrician-gynecologists in colposcopy and anoscopy techniques for female and male patients. Fellows will be trained in colposcopy and high-resolution anoscopy by experienced, credentialed faculty. Fellows will develop skills in the evaluation and treatment of cervical and anal dysplasia, as well as other complex conditions affecting the lower female genital tract.

The fellow will have an appointment at the Associate level, will receive clinical and surgical training, and will provide inpatient (including Labor and Delivery) and outpatient services. The fellow will participate in patient care at Emory University Hospitals, Clinics, Grady Memorial Hospital, and other affiliated sites. Fellows will attend didactics and weekly Grand Rounds, and they will actively participate in teaching residents and medical students.

The fellow is expected to be engaged in their own active research project, which will culminate in a presentation during the Department's Resident and Fellow Research Day at the end of the year. Twenty percent of the fellowship will be dedicated to research time with ample opportunity for mentorship. The fellow will also have access to a team of researchers and a statistician to assist with their research project. If interested, the fellow can enroll in public health courses at the Rollins School of Public Health as part of the fellowship.
The fellow will have the opportunity to be involved in international outreach and education around cervical cancer in Latin America. Specifically, they will be engaged in a cervical cancer screening program in a rural setting in Latin America early in the fellowship, followed by anal cancer screening program via high resolution anoscopy in the Caribbean or Latin American. The fellow will be expected to attend the High Resolution Anoscopy Course in order to become HRA certified. The fellow will be able to present at several meetings including ASCCP, International Anal Neoplasia Society (IANS), International Papillomavirus Conference, ACOG, and/or SGO. Finally, the fellow will have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials, specifically the Anal Cancer/HSIL Outcomes Research (ANCHOR), Women’s Interagency HIV Study (WIHS), and Multicenter AIDS Cohort Study (MACS) protocols.

Creighton Obstetrics and Gynecology Women's Imaging Fellowship, Phoenix, Arizona

Established in 2014, this fellowship is designed as a post-residency transition to academic practice, subspecialty fellowship, or private practice for graduating residents in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Combined training is provided through the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Department of Radiology in women's imaging with ultrasound as the primary modality. Instruction in complementary imaging modalities using computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging is incorporated into the curriculum. The fellowship instructors are all Board-certified, fellowship-trained, academic faculty with an emphasis in women';s imaging and body imaging.

The fellow works part-time performing inpatient and outpatient Ob/Gyn services and resident supervision for the Creighton-Phoenix Ob/Gyn residency program as a member of the faculty. The remaining time is spent on fellowship duties including performance and interpretation of women's imaging studies. While the focus is primarily on gynecologic ultrasound, there is ample opportunity to incorporate fetal and breast ultrasound based on the fellow's preference. The fellow can elect for a one or two-year track while earning a Master's Degree.

UNC Obstetrics and Gynecology Women’s Reproductive Health Fellowship–Chapel Hill, North Carolina

The UNC Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking candidates for the Women’s Reproductive Health Fellowship. The department is committed to developing the next generation of well-trained clinician researchers in order to advance the health and health care of women across the lifespan. To achieve this goal, the Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology, in collaboration the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, offers a 2-year clinical-research fellowship with the aim to increase the number of academic specialists pursuing successful faculty careers, engaging in clinical care, research and teaching. As part of the program, fellows obtain formal didactic training, expert mentoring and develop a clear research plan.

Fellows receive training and a Master’s in Clinical Research through the Department of Epidemiology in the School of Public Health. Fellows actively engage in clinical activities, including outpatient care, labor and delivery, in-service gynecology attending and gynecologic surgery. In addition to clinical and research experience, fellows develop strong leadership skills, enhance their communications abilities and learn to lead clinical and research teams. Fellows dedicate 50% time to clinical activities and 50% time to research/research training. UAB Global Women’s Reproductive Health Fellowship – Birmingham, Alabama

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking applicants with Ob/Gyn background with co-sponsorship by the UAB OBGYN department although future fellows may have background training in Ob/Gyn, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine or Public Health.

The goal of the global women’s reproductive health 2-year fellowship is to provide high quality patient care, high impact research, and world class educational opportunities for health care providers interested in women’s reproductive and children’s health in low resource settings worldwide. Potential sites include but are not limited to Cameroon, Kenya, South Africa and Zambia or selected rural Alabama locations.
