Kansas Voters Block an Anti-Abortion Amendment
On August 2, Kansas primary voters overwhelmingly rejected a ballot initiative to strip abortion protections from the Kansas Constitution. The ballot initiative would have amended the state's constitution to declare that abortion is not a right and would have granted Kansas' legislature explicit authority to pass extreme abortion restrictions within the state.
"We are pleased that access to essential health care, including abortion, will remain intact for the women and people in Kansas and in the region," said ACOG President Iffath Abbasi Hoskins, MD, FACOG, "and we celebrate with our members who can continue to provide their patients with comprehensive medical care."
