Leveraging Access and Trust to Prevent Chronic Disease Through Personalized Care

Dr. Eva Chalas' presidential initiative focused on increasing awareness of the obstetrician-gynecologist's critical role in providing preventive and medically appropriate care.

About the Initiative

Patients establish relationships with their obstetrician-gynecologist early in their adult life and often rely on them to provide primary and preventative care through their different life stages. This puts obstetrician-gynecologists in a unique and essential role to identify gaps in care and implement solutions to ensure comprehensive, individualized care for their patients.

ACOG Past President Dr. Eva Chalas' presidential initiative focused on increasing awareness of the obstetrician-gynecologist's critical role in providing preventive and medically appropriate care.

The task force identified six priority areas of preventative care:

  • Obesity
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Prepregnancy care
  • Diabetes
  • Modifiable risk factors for cancer prevention
  • Genetic risk factors for cancer prevention or early detection

Watch Dr. Chalas' Presidential Address and the webinars below for detailed information on tools and resources for addressing these six areas of preventive care with your patients.

Technology Series

The Task Force evaluated effective technology approaches to help in tailoring preventive visits to individual patient's needs. Focused on the six preventive care topics, the Task Force identified applicable tools, overlays, and apps using a detailed scoring system.
