At ACOG, we are committed to creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture of excellence among our membership, fellowship, leadership, and staff.  As a leader in women’s health, ACOG continues to work toward meaningful change by striving to change the culture of medicine and eliminate inequities in the delivery of health care and health care outcomes. We know that to truly achieve these changes it is essential that the culture of our organization, membership, leadership, and fellowship is diverse, equitable, and inclusive.

We recognize that there is much work to be done – and that this work is critical to ensuring that we are able to most effectively address the complex challenges facing our members working in multiple clinical settings, trainees, their patients, and women’s health.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusive Excellence (DEIE) Workgroup

ACOG’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusive Excellence Workgroup – which was established by ACOG’s Board of Directors at its fall 2019 meeting – is developing a blueprint to inform and guide ACOG in fostering a dynamic, diverse, and inclusive community where every member thrives and where the perspective of every member is heard, supported, and valued. The DEIE Workgroup is asking hard questions and having difficult conversations to identify inequities and barriers to inclusion so that we can address them and achieve a more inclusive and vibrant community. We know this work is not only critical for our members’ experiences at ACOG, but also to support our members in their everyday work as health care professionals seeking to improve access and outcomes for all patients.

In addition to the DEIE Workgroup focusing on the community of ACOG members and fellows, a separate committee of ACOG staff members supports initiatives to achieve diversity, equity, and inclusive excellence within the ACOG staff community.
