Ryan Family Planning Curriculum
The Ryan Program is a national initiative based at the Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health at the University of California, San Francisco. The mission of the program is to formally create dedicated family planning rotations in departments of obstetrics and gynecology in the U.S.
The Ryan Family Planning Curriculum is designed to serve as a curricular resource for family planning training for residents in obstetrics and gynecology. The modules contain objectives, articles, videos, and quizzes.
The eight modules cover:
- Overview of Abortion Care
- 1st Trimester Uterine Aspiration Abortion and 2nd trimester D&E
- Medication Abortion and Labor Induction Termination
- Early Pregnancy Loss Management
- Policy and Advocacy
- An Introduction to Reproductive Justice
- Career Planning
The Ryan Program Curriculum is hosted by Innovating Education in Reproductive Health on their free online reproductive health education platform, RHEcourse. Instructors can customize and assign content and track learner progress, or new learners can register for self-paced learning. Participants are added on a rolling basis.
