Committees and Special Projects
Get involved by joining one of our committees or special projects. These groups address issues that are of interest to members and the communities where they work.
Contraceptive Access Committee
This committee works to reduce teen and unintended pregnancy rates in District VII. The goal is to coordinate prevention efforts across the region and share best practices.
Committee members are expected to:
- Participate in quarterly conference calls
- Be knowledgeable about prevention programs and projects in their state
- Connect colleagues to ACOG toolkits, trainings, and bundles
Distinguished Service Leaders Project
This project connects with past District and Section leaders to utilize their expert opinions and advice on issues that affect the District and keep them engaged.
Educational Research Collaborative
The Educational Research Collaborative increases scientific output from District VII. District VII recognizes the importance of actively fostering Junior Fellows to stimulate networking and enhanced scientific offerings at our Annual District Meetings. In order to engage Junior Fellows, we invest in program directors as mentors. This strategy adds value for programs and enhances participation in District activities.
In March 2016, we held our inaugural meeting at the CREOG/APGO meeting in New Orleans to introduce the District VII Educational Collaborative's two goals:
- To create a structured educational research network
- To provide a forum for educators to share best practices
Since then, we have used the CREOG/APGO meeting and the ADM as our two venues to host biannual meetings. At each meeting we present multi-center research projects approved by our advisory board, along with discussion of new projects. If you are interested in submitting a study or learning more, please contact email@example.com.
Maternal Mortality Committee
The Committee works to address maternal mortality rates in District VII.
Members are expected to:
- Participate in quarterly conference calls or meetings
- Support the continuation of their Section's MMRC
- Assist in planning Maternal Mortality activities and events at the Annual District Meeting
To join a committee or request more information please contact Kelsey Dashiell, District VII Program Manager, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In September 2020, District VII created the Telehealth Taskforce to gather and share information between Sections, guide telehealth policy development at the local level, and have an impact on how grant funding for telehealth projects is used in our region. If you are interested in becoming a taskforce member, email email@example.com.
