District IV Forum Spring 2019: Young Physician Updates
Young Physician Updates
Rachel Casey, MD, FACOG
Chair, District IV Young Physician Council
Our District IV Young Physician Advisory Council is complete! In 2018, District IV approved the creation of a District IV Young Physician Council, which now has representation from all Sections within our District. District IV is the third ACOG District to create a Young Physician Advisory Council nationally. The council intends to facilitate engagement and communication among Young Physicians and implement, increase, and support advocacy efforts. In addition, we will work to enhance Young Physician programming at our meetings and support both District and Section Young Physician projects.
Upcoming events for Young Physicians at the Annual Meeting in Nashville include a Young Physician luncheon, a reception with Junior Fellows, seminars, practice updates, and our own Young Physician team for Are You Smarter Than a Junior Fellow. Our District meeting will be hosting a Young Physician luncheon with a guest speaker geared toward Young Physician engagement. Young Physicians will also participate in the panel discussion Drawing Your Five-Year Plan.
The inaugural meeting of the District IV Young Physicians Council is planned at our District Meeting in New Orleans this fall. We are working towards a better understanding of District IV Young Physicians needs and interests to further engage our members. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to District IV for recognizing the importance of Young Physician involvement and providing us with this opportunity. Want to get involved? Ask me how!
