ACOG Menu

Women are the fastest growing demographic within military and veteran populations, comprising 17% of the military, and 10% of U.S. Veterans. ACOG plays an important role ensuring the Department of Defense and the Veteran’s Administration are aware of and well prepared to address the unique health care needs of this demographic group.

Our Position

At the federal level, ACOG advocates to expand availability and coverage of gender-specific care for those who serve our country and their families alike.

This includes:

  • Increasing access to trauma-informed care for military sexual trauma
  • Maternity care coordination
  • Access to reproductive health care infertility treatments, contraceptive services, and abortion

ACOG also advocates to increase the numbers of women’s health providers in the Military Health System and Veterans Health Administration, to ensure women have adequate access to essential care.
