It’s why we do, what we do…
Advocacy and a commitment to improving the lives of others are what inspire many wide-eyed medical students to choose our specialty—advocating for our patients is central to what ob-gyns do every day, but supporting women’s health goes far beyond the exam room.
When lawmakers are making decisions about women’s health, they MUST hear from us—we are the experts. Our voices are most powerful together—and meaningful advocacy can be much easier than you may think. So, what are you waiting for? JOIN US.

ACOG is made up of three pillars of advocacy, working together to ensure lawmakers support our patients and our practices; and when necessary, to stop political attempts to harm women and our specialty. Each is SO important, and each is a great way to plug in and do more!
1. Federal. Whether it’s legislation in Congress or administrative actions taken by the White House, these decisions reverberate throughout the country and can shake the foundation of our profession to its core. Learn more about ACOG’s federal legislative priorities and ways to ACT as well as current legislative efforts.
2. State. Oftentimes, laws passed in state legislatures have the greatest impact on your patients and your practice. Whether you know it or not, ACOG has an entire network in YOUR state working to ensure ob-gyns are represented in your state capitol. Learn how to plug into your state work.
3. Political. Elected officials have a final say over what becomes law and what doesn’t. But what if the people in these positions don’t have our best interest in mind? Well let’s get them OUT and support those who do! Ob-GynPAC is the muscle behind our advocacy. A strong PAC makes us most effective—learn how to support these efforts.
