Support women giving birth in Ukraine and surrounding countries

ACOG and the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) have partnered in the United States to raise funds to support women giving birth in Ukraine and surrounding countries.

The war in Ukraine poses extreme risks to civilians, in particular to women and children. More than 12 million people have been displaced by the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation. Among these are tens of thousands of women expected to give birth in coming months.
In partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), European Board & College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (EBCOG) and NGOs working in Ukraine and surrounding countries, ACOG and FIGO are raising funds to support the essential health care needs of pregnant women affected by the conflict.
We call on all those in the United States who are able – our colleagues, partners and friends – to donate to this fund. All donations are tax deductible, and will go towards the purchase of emergency medical supplies and care packages that will be sent to Ukraine and surrounding countries. If you are located internationally, please click here to donate.
As little as $14 will purchase a dignity kit, containing items such as underwear, toothbrushes and detergent. $250 will purchase a midwifery kit to aid with childbirth. $2,000 will provide equipment for up to 200 safe births.
ACOG and FIGO are working closely with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and other organizations including the Inter-Agency Working Group on Reproductive Health in Crises (IAWG) to ensure that all proceeds reach the right people in the right areas. The IAWG is an international coalition of organizations and individuals working collectively to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights in humanitarian settings. The IAWG, working with UNFPA, helps to direct kits to those most in need.
ACOG and FIGO recognize the ever-present risks of childbirth to mother and infant. These risks are dramatically higher when a mother is under siege, in war or displaced. In turn, this significantly increases the possibility of death or injury to the mother, baby, or both.
Please donate now to provide essential sexual and reproductive health care for women in and around Ukraine.
