FAQ137, September 2019

What is infertility? Infertility is defined as not having become pregnant after 1 year of having regular sexual intercourse without the use of birth control (see FAQ136 Evaluating Infertility). If you are older than 35 years, an evaluation and possible treatment are recommended after 6 months. If you are older than 40 years, an evaluation and possible treatment are recommended before you reach the 6-month mark.
