John Gibbons Medical Student Travel Award


The John Gibbons Medical Student Award is offered to help encourage medical students to select obstetrics and gynecology as their chosen specialty.  John M. Gibbons Jr., MD is a past president of ACOG who recognized the importance of medical students to the future of our specialty. This award is currently being offered to help supplement medical student travel expenses incurred while attending the ACOG Annual Clinical & Scientific Meeting, Nashville, TN, May 3-6, 2019.

All ACGME accredited New York State medical school clerkship directors are invited to submit the names of active, ACOG District II medical students in good standing who are current 3rd or 4th year students. Email your submission - include details of the medical student's demonstrated interest in obstetrics and gynecology - to Elizabeth Morris at

In general, awards granted are in the amount of $200 - $300 and are to be used to help medical students offset expenses while attending the 2019 Annual Clinical & Scientific Meeting.

Awardees will be announced by March 8th. All awards are disbursed post-Annual Clinical & Scientific Meeting.

Medical Students who participate in the program will be asked to submit a post-ACM experience essay to the District II Advisory Council. Click here to read 2018 essays.
