 Junior Fellow Call for Essays

 

"In the Multitasking World of Medicine, Career, and Family, How Can Junior Fellows Incorporate Physician Wellness Techniques in Their Lives to Bring Balance?"


ACOG District II is pleased to announce the Call for Essays, “In the Multitasking World of Medicine, Career, and Family, How Can Junior Fellows Incorporate Physician Wellness Techniques in Their Lives to Bring Balance?"

At some point in their careers, physicians can experience emotional and physical exhaustion leaving them at risk for burnout. ACOG District II Junior Fellows are invited to share their thoughts and experiences in essay format on how Junior Fellows can incorporate physician wellness skills as they launch their careers in the high paced and ever changing healthcare environment.

Prize



The winning author, selected by the Junior Fellow Task Force on Awards, will receive free registration and travel and lodging to attend the 2017 Annual District II Meeting in Bermuda, October 5-8, 2017.

 

Guidelines


 
  • The Junior Fellow Essay Contest is open to all District II Junior Fellows. The winner must remain in District II through October 2017.
  • Essays must be double-spaced, use standard 12 point font (such as Times New Roman or Arial) top, bottom, and side margins set at 1 inch, author’s name should appear in the header on each page, and each page numbered.
  • Essays should include:
    • Introduction to physician wellness and the goal of the technique practiced
    • Getting started (e.g., time, skills, supplies, costs)
    • Implementing (e.g., setting, technology, faculty support)
    • Tangible outcome on professional fulfillment, wellness, or personal resiliency
  • Preference will be given to techniques that have been practiced and can be easily replicated by other Junior Fellows across New York State.
  • Submit your essay (1000 words maximum) as a Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or PDF document to Elizabeth Morris at emorris@ny.acog.org.
  • The winning essay will be determined by the District II Junior Fellow Task Force on Awards.
  • The winning essay will be highlighted on Sunday, October 8, 2017, during the Physician Wellness segment of the Annual District II Meeting and will be featured in the ACOG District II Newsletter.

 

Passports Required


Bermuda is a British Overseas Territory and requires a valid passport for entry. Please allow at least one month to acquire a U.S. passport.
