UTI Toolkit

As women's health care providers, obstetrician-gynecologists are in a unique position to recognize, discuss, and help our patients to prevent recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs) by understanding the underlying pathophysiology and principles of antibiotic stewardship. This toolkit provides information about preventive measures for UTIs including a webinar, eModule, tearpad PDF for patients, and links to additional ACOG resources.

By the end of this course, the health care professional should be able to:

  • Prevent recurrent urinary tract infections by understanding antibiotic stewardship
  • Develop evidence-based strategies for evaluating and treating patients with recurrent UTIs
  • Communicate effectively with patients about treatment strategies to prevent recurrent UTIs

ABOUT THIS TOOLKIT
This toolkit was developed by authors Jeannine Miranne, MD, MS, FACOG; and James Greenberg, MD, FACOG through an independent educational grant from Ocean Spray. Through this toolkit, the health care professional will learn how to prevent recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs) by understanding the underlying pathophysiology and principles of antibiotic stewardship. Upon completion, providers should be able to develop evidence-based strategies to evaluate and treat patients with recurrent UTIs, and communicate effectively with patients about treatment strategies to prevent recurrent UTIs.
