Events & Meetings: What’s New at the 2017 ACOG Annual Meeting

We finally made it. It is Annual Meeting week! ACOG’s 2017 Annual Clinical and Scientific Meeting kicks off Saturday, May 6 in San Diego.

Registration is way up this year. Even so, we still have room for you. There is still time to register online prior to the meeting! Of course, you can register onsite, too. You will be able to earn up to 27 CME credits this year.

Single-day registrations are also available if you are short on time. This is particularly helpful if you prefer to focus on certain topics. The Annual Meeting features themed days, but we have a different set of topics this year:

  • Saturday – Contraception/Family Planning
  • Sunday – Surgery
  • Monday – Sexuality and Menopause
  • Tuesday – Genetics

The meeting has been condensed from five days in years past to a much more efficient four days. All postgraduate and hands-on courses are now bundled together late on Monday and all day Tuesday, so you don’t risk missing out on physically attending a session Saturday or Sunday in order to take a course.

But, thanks to the 2017 Virtual Meeting—available for purchase now—attendees can go back and watch a session they were unable to attend in person. The 2015 and 2016 Virtual Meetings are also available for purchase. The 2017 Virtual Meeting contains a large chunk of the Annual Meeting—over 150 hours of learning. The 2017 Virtual Meeting is also available for purchase by non-attendees after the meeting. No CME credit is available, however.

New this year is the Hybrid Track. The ACOG Hybrid Track contains 10 specially selected sessions from the 2017 ACOG Annual Meeting that can be purchased, viewed, and CME credit earned by completing the assessment at the conclusion of each session. Non-attendees can view these sessions live as they occur at the Annual Meeting or on-demand and earn CME at their convenience. It’s not as good as attending in person, but does afford a snapshot of the meeting and a chance to earn CME.

Also, the Final Program and Annual Meeting app have just been released.

Still on the fence? Download the Final Program to review the hundreds of hours of educational programming. Sessions span the breadth of obstetrics and gynecology.  You can even map each session to ABOG examination topics.

The Annual Meeting app is available for registrants only and perfect for building your personal calendar at the meeting. Registrants—download the app now to get the latest news and alerts. If you have yet to register, you can still build a sample calendar by using the online planner, which is open to all.

The 2017 Annual Meeting offers more education sessions in formats that attendees have identified as their favorites. Surveys have shown that members like the innovative flipped classroom sessions, so ACOG will offer 13 of them at this year’s meeting. Members also continue to praise colloquia that use the debate format, so eight of those this year will be debates.

What's New?
