The Executive Desk: Focusing on ACOG Members

Hal C. Lawrence III

Hal C. Lawrence III, MD, Executive Vice President and CEO

We at ACOG focus on our members as part of our work every day. We think about what you value and need as we develop new CME courses, launch a multi-year national advocacy leadership building program, All-in for Advocacy, or bring you the best ob-gyn career opportunities.

Not aware of all of the many things that ACOG offers you as a member? Here are some new materials that we hope will help you learn more about ACOG and how you can get involved at the grassroots or national level:

  • ACOG Video--We Are You: This video provides members with information on ACOG’s mission, practice resources, advocacy initiatives, and leadership opportunities. This video was developed by the Council of District Chairs. View this helpful membership video at

  • Online Presentation for Junior Fellows--What Does ACOG Do for Me? This informative, yet brief online presentation covers the many available educational, advocacy and leadership opportunities for Junior Fellows. Junior Fellows are also encouraged to engage with and about ACOG through use of various social media outlets. This presentation was developed by the Junior Fellow Congress Advisory Council (JFCAC), led by District V Junior Fellow Chair Dr. Rosalyn Feaster and District VI Junior Fellow Chair Dr. Tashera Perry.

  • The President’s Blog: In his most recent blog post, President Mark DeFrancesco, MD, discusses how you can get more from your ACOG membership. He shares his path and experience of getting involved with ACOG at the local and national levels, which has been a very rewarding experience.

Also to help you stay up to date, Rounds has launched a new monthly feature: ACOG Publications Update: What’s New in June 2015. We hope having this information summarized in one central location will help you to easily find the latest publications available from ACOG.

We will continue to bring you more information on the benefits of membership in the coming months. We will also be conducting a membership survey this fall to learn more about your needs and what you value most.
