Patient Education Tip of the Month: The Flu Vaccine and Pregnancy

Share ACOG’s Patient Education Tip of the Month with your patients. August is National Immunization Awareness Month, so today’s focus is the flu vaccine.

Immunizations are not just for kids—anyone older than six months of age should receive the flu vaccine each year. This includes adults, pregnant women, and women who are breastfeeding. The best time to get vaccinated is early in the flu season, usually October through May. If you are not vaccinated early, you still can get the vaccine later in the flu season.
