Tip of the Month

Group B Streptococcus is a bacterium that can be passed from mother to baby during labor and delivery. GBS infection in newborns can be serious. Women are tested for GBS late in pregnancy, between weeks 35 and 37. If they have the bacteria, they receive treatment during labor. Be sure to tell your doctor whether you had GBS in a previous pregnancy or have had a child with GBS infection.
