Emergency Preparedness News

Pregnant and parenting women and their infants require special consideration in emergencies.  ACOG President, Douglas Kirkpartick, MD encourages those involved in health care for women to be aware of these needs and to join with local planning teams.

CDC has posted a cdc.gov feature titled "Emergency Planning Tips if

You're Pregnant or Have Young Children." You can view this feature by

visiting cdc.gov and clicking on "Emergencies" or by clicking on this link

In this feature article, you will find information for pregnant women or

those with young children as it relates to preparing for an

emergency/disaster including what to do:

* if you are asked to evacuate;

* if you have to stay in a shelter or place other than your home;

* during and just after a disaster; or

* if you are recovering from a disaster

Please feel free to share this link with your families, friends, and

colleagues or post the feature on your Web site.

CDC has also posted a feature to help everyone prepare for storms such

as Gustav and Hannah. You can view that feature by clicking on this link
