• Recognize early signs of vision abnormalities
• Evaluate vision abnormalities and initiate management of minor conditions
• Counsel patients about good vision health and corrective techniques
• Identify factors that can pose a risk to vision and intervene accordingly
• Recognize when it is necessary to refer patients to a vision specialist
