Sleep Problems and Sleep Disorders Description
This monograph is designed to enable obstetricians-gynecologists to:
  • Understand normal sleep physiology and needs across the age spectrum and the clinical effects of chronic sleep restriction
  • Understand the pathophysiologic mechanisms for chronic sleep problems and sleep disorders
  • Recognize medical problems associated with chronic sleep restriction
  • Diagnose individual sleep disorders and there medical consequences
  • Treat basic sleep problems through lifestyle and behavioral interventions and refer patients who have conditions that require consultation
  • Counsel women about factors that contribute to sleep problems and increase their risk for sleep disorders
  • Provide long-term follow-up and collaborative participation in the care of women with chronic sleep disorders and related medical problems.
Self-assessment questions are included at the end of each monograph. 5 CME credits will be awarded per issue.
