SECTION CHAIR: Eve Espey, MD
Dr. Espey, the New Mexico Section Chair, is on faculty at the University of New Mexico and is also the Dean of Students at the UNM Medical School. She began her career in 1991 working at Gallup Indian Medical Center for six years and has been on faculty at the University of New Mexico since then. She has a strong commitment to ACOG and is a member of the Committee for Underserved Women and chairs the Long-Acting Reversible Contraception Committee
SECTION VICE CHAIR: Cindi Lewis, MD
Dr. Lewis, the New Mexico Vice Chair, is employed at CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center (CSVRMC) as a urogynecologist and serves as the Department of Surgery Co-Chair and OB/GYN Section Chair. She left fellowship at the University of New Mexico to work at La Familia Medical Center as their first employed ob/gyn. She has been involved in policy making at CSVRMC to assure under- and uninsured women's access to reproductive health care in Santa Fe and the surrounding area.
SECTION TREASURER: Tushar P Dandade, MD
Dr. Dandade came to New Mexico in 2003 after completing residency at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. He joined Presbyterian Medical Group in September of 2003 and was appointed Lead Physician for the OB/GYN department in 2005. He has served on several committees and projects within Presbyterian health Services including Lean and Service Excellence projects.
SECTION SECRETARY/WEBMASTER: John M. Balintona, MD
John M. Balintona, MD, Secretary and webmaster of the New Mexico Section, is a commissioned officer in the U.S. Public Health Service. He has been serving as a general ob/gyn at the Shiprock Service Unit since 2002. Dr. Balintona is a graduate of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Medicine. He has participated in an ACOG ad-hoc committee on GDM and has interest in Native American issues.
SECTION CHAIR OF LEGISLATIVE ACTIVITIES: Tony Ogburn, MD
Dr. Ogburn, the immediate past Chair of the NM Section, is the Chair of Legislative Activities. He attended medical school at the University of Florida and residency at the University of California-Irvine. After residency he practiced with the Indian Health Service in Gallup from 1991-97. He joined the faculty at UNM in 1997 and continues practice there as a member of the General OB/Gyn Division. He serves as the Residency Program Director. Dr. Ogburn has been active in a variety of ACOG activities; in addition to serving as the NM Section Chair and Vice Chair, he is currently the Chair of the ACOG Committee on Indian Affairs and the Region 5 representative to the CREOG Council.
