The Obstetrical and Gynecologic Society of Maryland is pleased to announce the results of the 8th Annual David A. Nagey Resident Research Day. This annual event which honors the memory of David A. Nagey, M.D. was held at the Radisson Hotel at Cross Keys in Baltimore on May 8th 2009.
This event is an annual opportunity for residents to submit and present papers on their reseach projects during OB GYN residency. This year we were overwhelmed with 19 papers, and of these 6 were chosen to be presented. A blue ribbon panel of judges decided that this year's top prize of $750 was awared to Dr. Joyce Barlin, Johns Hopkins Medical Center, for her paper entitled "A Follow-up Study of the Correlation between Postoperative Computed Tomography Scan and Primary Surgeon Assessment in Patients with Advanced Ovarian, Tubal and Peritoneal Carcinoma Report to have undergone Primary Surgical Cytoreduction to Residual Disease less than or equal to 1 cm."
The second prize of $500 was awarded to Mindy Christianson, Johns Hopkins Medical Center, for her paper "Comparison of Survival, Meiotic Spindle Organization and Polo-like Kinase 1 localization in Mouse Oocytes Cryopreserved by Slow-freezing and Vitrification."
The third prize of $250 was awarded to Hindi Stohl, Johns Hopkins Medical Center for her paper "Short Term Outcomes in Very Low Birthweight Singleton Neonates Delivered Breech: One Center's Experience."
Our outstanding featured speaker was Dr. Eve Espey, from the University of New Mexico who presented "New Approaches to Contraceptive Initiation."
