COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This webcast will review the ICD-10 coding requirements for reporting Obstetrical complications, including the clinical specificity necessary to appropriately assign diagnosis codes. The application of the 7th digit extension, the X placeholder, and the assignment of trimesters, and weeks of gestation will be reviewed. The guidelines for reporting and sequencing multiple obstetrical complications will be discussed. Clinical examples will be provided.


OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of the presentation, the participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the ICD-10 guidelines for reporting obstetrical complications
  • Recognize when the 7th digit code extensions are required
  • Assess how to report multiple obstetrical conditions and complications
  • Evaluate and analyze specific codes for reporting common obstetrical complications
