COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Health care providers selected to serve as leaders of their respective departments or other practice settings may not possess the skills necessary to assume these positions. This course is designed to provide current and future leaders in hospital departments, managed care organizations, or private practice settings with the critical performance improvement and management tools necessary to meet the myriad responsibilities and challenges confronting them. After attending this course, participants should be able to:

  • Summarize the major trends in patient safety, quality improvement, and value-based health care and how they affect women’s health care.
  • Delineate the chairperson’s role in and the legal implications of credentialing, privileging, and dealing with difficult physicians.
  • Describe practical tools and methods to improve clinical performance, and apply these tools to problems in clinical practice.
  • Understand the use of simulations and drills to improve patient safety and how to adopt programs of this type in your institution.
  • Identify the role of teamwork and collaborative practice among different clinical disciplines in enhancing patient safety.
  • • Describe the core concepts of advanced management skills including communication, negotiation, conflict management, and cultural sensitivity.

 
FEES:

ACOG Fellows and Junior Fellows in practice: $750 on or before 7/01/13 or $850 after 7/01/13
ACOG Life Fellows, Junior Fellow residents or subspecialty fellows, Educational Affiliates, and Associate Members: $400; verification required for the lower fee
Nurse leaders attending the course as part of their hospital team, including an ACOG Fellow, will also be charged: $400
Others: $950
On-site registration (subject to availability) is an additional $100
