COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The role of the obstetrics and gynecology department chair is a rewarding and challenging position in the ever-evolving world of medicine. This course is designed specifically for new and recently appointed department chairs to learn from the experts.

Program highlights include:

  • Improving physician and faculty performance
  • Managing difficult faculty and situations
  • Strategic planning, financial management, and decision making
  • Creating a department budget
  • Navigating meetings and organizational politics
  • Developing a leadership bench
  • Presenting promotions and tenure elections
  • Negotiation with deans and healthcare plans

This course presents the opportunity to build stronger ties with ABOG and ACOG. ABOG and ACOG leaders will explain the ACOG committee nomination process and how to mentor your faculty to become ABOG and ACOG leaders. We will also review various ACOG programs that chairs might find useful for their departments such as Voluntary Review of Quality of Care (VRQC) and Safety Certification in Outpatient Practice Excellence for Women's Health (SCOPE).
