At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:

1. List the College indications for operative vaginal delivery

2. List contraindications for forceps and vacuum delivery

3. Describe circumstances in which episiotomy is and is not appropriate

4. Describe how the obstetrics team works together to prepare for, perform and document an operative vaginal delivery

5. Describe the guidelines outlined in this course for vacuum delivery: number of pulls, number of pop-offs, and elapsed time

6. Explain the importance of the flexion point in placing a vacuum cup and describe how to find it
