After completing this course, attendees will take away the following skills and techniques:

  • Improving team building and communication techniques
  • Changing organizational culture to enhance quality and patient safety
  • Establishing drills and simulations at your institution or improving the ones you have
  • Dealing with disclosure of adverse events
  • Addressing medical staff issues such as credentialing and behavior that undermines a culture of safety


  • Present or future physician leaders in hospital departments of ob-gyn, ambulatory care centers, or multi-specialty groups (titles such as Department Chair or Chief Medical Officer)
  • Nurse leaders in hospital Labor and Delivery departments such as nurse managers (NOTE: Nursing Continuing Education Units [CEUs] are available)


  • Physicians: Up to 18 AMA PRA Category 1 credits™ or College Cognate credits
  • Nurses: Up to 19 contact hours by the Maryland Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation
