Every birth is a potential emergency. Are you ready? Enhance your response in high-risk obstetrical emergencies through this 2-day course at the Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation (CAMLS), Tampa’s state-of-the-art medical simulation center.

Day 1: Didactic and hands-on team training

  • Shoulder dystocia
  • Postpartum hemorrhage
  • Eclamptic seizure/magnesium toxicity
  • Maternal code

Day 2: Task training stations

  • Operative vaginal delivery
  • Bakri balloon
  • Uterine compression suture techniques
  • Giving bad news to a patient and her family
  • Appropriate documentation of a shoulder dystocia delivery note

In teams of ten* you will rotate through team simulations and task trainings. By the end of the course, you will be able to demonstrate essential teamwork principles for optimal management of obstetric emergencies. *Teams may include obstetricians, maternal-fetal medicine physicians, OB-GYN residents, fellows, and obstetric nurses

Registration fee includes program materials, breakfasts, breaks, and lunches.  A confirmation letter will be sent upon receipt of your registration and payment. 


Registration fees will be refunded minus a $100 processing fee with a written notice on or prior to October 21, 2014.  No refunds will be made after this date.  No registration is confirmed without FULL PAYMENT.


The Office of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) at USF Health reserves the right to cancel this activity due to unforeseen circumstances, in which the full registration fee will be refunded.  USF Health is not responsible for travel expenses incurred by the participants in the unlikely event that the course is canceled.
