Initiating Adolescent Health In Schools OKACOG Initiative

Oklahoma ACOG Sexual Health Initiative
Oklahoma Section of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (OKACOG) are working on an initiative to integrate a sexual health educational program that is abstinence based into the curriculum of the school systems in Tulsa County. We are pleased to report that many schools in the Tulsa area are actively looking at curriculums. Once a curriculum has been adopted by a school system, we will be asking for Doctors to volunteer one hour blocks of time to meet with teachers, students or parents regarding the medical aspect of the curriculums. As an advocate for public health issues OKACOG would like both students and parents to have a better understanding of all aspects of adolescent health, which includes sexual health education. If you are interested and possibly willing to volunteer, please email Joetta Cunningham at
joetta@tcmsok.org
. This will not commit you but allow us to send you more information as it progresses. For questions about this effort you can contact Nirupama De Silva, MD., Chair of the OKACOG at 918-660-8350 or
nirupama-desilve@ouhsc.edu
or Grant Cox, M.D., Immediate Past Chair of the OKACOG at 918-747-9641 or
