NEW! Breastfeeding Medicaid Policy Update
As part of Governor Cuomo’s Medicaid Redesign, please be advised of the following New York State Medicaid policy changes. Effective April 1, 2013, Medicaid Fee-for-Service will provide reimbursement for breastfeeding education and lactation counseling during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Effective May 1, 2013, Medicaid Managed Care and Family Health Plus plans will also cover lactation counseling services. In addition, Medicaid will require that breast pumps meet minimum specifications to be reimbursable.
