2013 Professor of the Year
Erika Banks, MD, FACOG, Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine – where she also serves as Residency Program Director in the Dept. of Obstetrics and Gynecology & Women’s Health - received this year's Professor of the Year Award. Eva Chalas, MD, FACOG, FACS, ACOG District II Chair, presented Dr. Banks with this honor during Friday's general session program.
2013 Iffath Abbasi Hoskins, MD Junior Fellow Research Day Oral Presentation Contest
Three Junior Fellow semi-finalists were selected to present their research to District meeting attendees in the Iffath Abbasi Hoskins, MD Junior Fellow Research Day Oral Presentation Contest. The winning research was selected by the Junior Fellow Task Force on Awards based on originality, significance, methods, and presentation guidelines. This year's semi-finalists were: Lindsey Hahn, DO of Winthrop University Hospital; Chensi Ouyang, MD of Albert Einstein College of Medicine; and Reshef Tal, MD, PhD of Maimonides Medical Center. The winning research, "Angiopoietin-2 is increased in Follicular Fluid of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) Women during Controlled Ovarian Stimulation and Correlates with Number of Oocytes Retrieved," was presented by Dr. Reshef Tal. Dr. Tal receives a $1,000 travel stipend to attend the 2014 Annual Clinical Meeting.
The Martin L. Stone, MD Scientific Poster Session Contest
The Martin L. Stone, MD Scientific Poster Session Contest featured over fifty research posters. The winning research poster was selected by the Junior Fellow Task Force on Awards based on originality, significance, methods, and presentation guidelines. This year's poster session winner is Eugenia Girda, MD of Albert Einstein College of Medicine her research entitled "Prospective Phase II Trial of Adjuvant Pelvic Radiation “Sandwiched” Between Combination Paclitaxel/Carboplatin Chemotherapy in Women with Uterine Papillary Serous Carcinoma (UPSC)." Dr. Girda received a $1,000 cash prize generously donated by the Martin L. Stone, MD Foundation.
2012 Donald F. Richardson, MD Memorial Prize Paper Award
Julia Jaffe, MD of SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn has been selected by the District II Junior Fellow Task Force on Awards as the District's Donald F. Richardson, MD Memorial Prize Paper Award finalist. Dr. Jaffe's research paper, "Quality of Web-Based Information on Epidural Anesthesia," will be submitted in this ACOG national contest as District II's sole entrant. As part of the submission criteria, Dr. Jaffe presented her research to attendees during the Annual Meeting. We wish Dr. Jaffe well in her quest to win this prestigious research paper award!
