New Handbook Reminds Women:
Pregnant? Think! Don’t Drink!
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, District II is educating thousands of women across New York State about the risks of drinking alcohol during pregnancy. The College has developed a public friendly, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) prevention handbook. These booklets have been distributed to women’s health care providers and relevant health associations throughout New York. The Pregnant? Think! Don’t Drink! Handbook includes the following FASD prevention messages:
- Discussion of safe drinking for all women of childbearing age
- The importance of abstaining from drinking if at risk of pregnancy
- Strategies to quit drinking
