American Social Health Association (ASHA)
ASHA is dedicated to improving health for all with an emphasis on sexual health and focus on preventing sexually transmitted diseases and their consequences.  The ASHA website offers information on sexual health, STD prevention, specific STDs, and extensive list of links to other sites.  ASHA offers I Wanna Know, a separate website for teens, and Quierosaber, one for Spanish-speakers.  ASHA also runs the STI Resource Center Hotline (919-361-8488) and hotline website

American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP) Patient Education
ASCCP patient education brochures on several types of STDs, cervical disorders, and therapies are found here.

British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH)
BASHH provides resources and guidelines on all types of STDs for health care professionals.

Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs)
This CDC site links to information on specific types of STDs or specific types of information, e.g. statistics, guidelines, publications, and fact sheets.

This website is produced with the oversight of Jeanne Marrazzo, MD, MPH.  Dr. Marrazzo, an Assistant Professor of Medicine (Infectious Diseases) at the University of Washington in Seattle, directs the Seattle STD/HIV Prevention and Training Center.

National Women's Health Information Center (NWHIC) Sexually Transmitted Infections: Overview
This specific section of the NWHIC website links to FAQS on general STD information and to specific types of STDs.

The ASHA Herpes Resource Center provides accurate and current information on herpes and referral to support groups.

AIDSinfo
AIDSinfo, a service of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, offers information on HIV/AIDS treatment, prevention, and research.  Choose Women under topics or search the entire site for topics of interest.

CDC HIV/AIDS
This is the primary CDC website for information on HIV and AIDS.

This page links to resources specifically on HIV/AIDS and women, for both consumers and health care professionals.

CDC National HIV and STD Testing Resources
This CDC website provides users with locations for HIV and STD testing and STD vaccines around the United States.   It also provides FAQS on HIV and STD testing and links to CDC information on HIV/AIDS. 

François-Xavier Bagnoud Center (FXB Center) Perinatal HIV Prevention in the US
The François Xavier Bagnoud Center, at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, provides training and technical assistance for healthcare providers on the local, state, and national levels about strategies to reduce perinatal HIV transmission.

HIVMA (HIV Medicine Association)
HIVMA was created to provide an organizational home for medical professionals engaged in HIV medicine.  HIVMA supports clinicians in overcoming the challenges inherent in providing high quality health care to patients living with HIV disease.  Practice guidelines and educational resources are available through the HIVMA site.

National Library of Medicine (NLM) Specialized Information Services (SIS) HIV/AIDS Information - HIV and Women
HIV/AIDS is one of the in-depth information resources developed by the SIS branch of NLM.  The SIS HIV and women site links to high quality information at other websites.

National Women's Health Information Center (NWHIC) Women & HIV/AIDS
Information on HIV/AIDS in women is organized by broad topics, such as why women are at risk, HIV prevention, HIV testing, treatment, and clinical trials.

World Health Organization (WHO) Health Topics: HIV/AIDS
This WHO site offers general and technical information, statistics, WHO publications, multimedia, and other links to information on HIV/AIDS from a global perspective.

Access to WHO evidence-based research and other resources on universal access to sexual and reproductive health care and perinatal HIV services are available here.

Women Alive
Women Alive has a goal of bringing women affected and infected with HIV/AIDS out of isolation through information, encouragement and emotional support.   The site is based in Los Angeles, but much of the information is relevant anywhere.

American Social Health Association (ASHA) HPV and Cervical Cancer Prevention Resource Center 
This ASHA site provides consumer-oriented accurate and current information about HPV and cervical cancer prevention, including a hotline and referral to local HPV support groups.

American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP) Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Resource Center
This ASCCP site provides provider level, media level, and consumer level resources on HPV.

Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) HPV Vaccination
This CDC site links to HPV vaccination resources for consumers and health care practitioners, including ACIP guidelines for use in male and female patients.
