This is a resource center for local communities working to improve health and access. The website includes information on medical debt, hospital billing and collection, oral health, rural health, and more.
Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) - National Healthcare Quality and Disparities Reports
This site from AHRQ includes the full text of the annual National Health Care Disparities Report, which summarizes health care quality and access among various racial, ethnic, and income groups and other populations.
American Medical Association (AMA) - Eliminating Health Disparities
This website has information on the AMA’s research findings and activities to eliminate health disparities, including the Commission to End Health Care Disparities.
Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion (CHERP)
CHERP was created by the US Department of Veterans Affairs to reduce disparities in health care among veterans and other populations. The site includes research and publications on health disparities.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) - Office of Minority Health & Health Disparities
The OMHD website includes reports and publications on health disparities, links to minority health resources, and information and statistics on racial and ethnic minority populations.
CDC - Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH)
REACH is a CDC initiative aimed at eliminating health disparities. The site includes a resource library with links to information on health from the CDC and other organizations.
Department of Health and Human Services - Office of Minority Health (OMH)
The OMH works to improve the health of racial and ethnic minority populations and to eliminate health disparities. The website includes links to resources on ethnic groups, publications, campaigns and initiatives, and more.
OMH - National Partnership for Action to End Health Disparities
This website from the U.S. Office of Minority Health includes information on health disparities and resources for community groups and state agencies.
Equity of Care
This organization’s goal is to eliminate health care disparities and improve quality of care. The website includes a blog and links to resources on disparities and cultural competence.
Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation - Minority Health
This website includes a monthly update on health disparities, general information and publications on health disparities, and information on coverage and access to care.
Hopkins Center for Health Disparities Solutions
This center, based at Johns Hopkins University, is dedicated to the elimination of health disparities and conducts research on causes and interventions to eliminate them. The site contains information about their research, publications, training, and community outreach.
Intercultural Cancer Council (ICC)
The ICC works to eliminate cancer disparities among racial and ethnic minorities and medically underserved populations. The website includes fact sheets on cancer and various minority groups.
National Cancer Institute (NCI) - Center to Reduce Cancer Health Disparities
The CRCHD conducts research to reduce cancer-related health disparities. The web site includes information on initiatives, research, and diversity training programs. It also includes cancer disparities information for researchers and patients.
National Health Care for the Homeless Council
The National HCH Council works to improve the health of homeless people. The website has information on the organization’s publications, policy, and advocacy. There is also a clinical resources page on health conditions and other health-related issues.
National Institutes of Health (NIH) - National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities
The NCMHD promotes minority health and leads the NIH effort to reduce and eliminate health disparities. It includes links to information on NIH health disparities programs.
NIH - Centers for Population Health and Health Disparities
NIH Centers for Population Health and Health Disparities support research to understand and reduce differences in health outcomes, access and care. Links to each center and other resources are also included.
W. Montague Cobb NMA Health Institute
The National Medical Association’s Cobb Institute was established to develop, evaluate, and implement strategies to promote wellness and eliminate health disparities and racism in medicine. The website has information on publications, research opportunities, and initiatives.
Why the Difference? An Initiative on Racial/Ethnic Disparities in Medical Care
This is an initiative by the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to raise physician awareness about disparities in medical care, currently focusing on cardiac care.
