Visit www.womenandhiv.org to learn more about HIV screening and testing, Gyn care for women with HIV, and other topics of interest for both clinicians and patients. Also, the site is an excellent resource for professional and patient HIV education materials, the latest research related to HIV and women, and contains links to relevant material from CDC, NIH, and many other agencies and organizations.
Updated Perinatal ARV Guidelines from NIH (July 31, 2012)
The Guidelines Panel now recommends that intravenous (IV) zidovudine is not required for HIV-infected women receiving combination ARV regimens who have HIV RNA <400 copies/mL near delivery. However, the panel does recommend that IV zidovudine should be administered to HIV-infected women with HIV RNA ≥ 400 copies/mL (or unknown HIV RNA) near delivery, regardless of antepartum regimen or mode of delivery.
