The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (the College) is a membership

Through the Women’s Health Registry Alliance, the
College’s newest campaign seeks to revolutionize vital
statistics and performance measurement in perinatal
care by nationally standardizing obstetric clinical data
definitions and coordinating quality improvement from
the ground up.
Campaign activities will include a women’s health data
stakeholder conference to nationally standardize obstetric
clinical data definitions; educating and advocating for
national implementation of these standardized obstetric

American Indian/Alaska Native
(AI/AN) Women’s Health $5,000 to $10,000
Since 1970, the College’s Committee on AI/AN
Women’s Health has consulted with the Indian Health
Service (IHS) and tribal health programs regarding clinical
issues and health care delivery for AI/AN women.
The Committee also oversees professional educational
programs specifically tailored to the Indian health
environment and a staff clearinghouse to assist when
ob-gyns wish to fill short-term vacancies in Indian
health facilities.
Underwriting would allow these program expansions:
• Provide postgraduate course scholarships for Indian
Health Service and Tribal generalist physicians
and nurses;
• Sponsor awardee travel for the William H. J. Haffner AI/
AN Women’s Health Award recognizing a health professional
who has made significant contributions toward
raising the level of health and/or improving health care
for AI/AN women;
• Supply additional educational materials for IHS/Tribal
health facilities.

National Fetal and Infant Mortality Review Program
For more than a decade, the College has operated the National Fetal and Infant Mortality Review Program (NFIMR)
as a resource center for Fetal and Infant Mortality Review Programs (FIMR). FIMR is an evidence-based local continuous
quality improvement process that uses review of infant deaths as a springboard to improve local community
services and resources for women, infants and families. The FIMR process has expanded to include 220 communities

NFIMR Newsletter: Making Healthy
Communities Happen $6,500 per issue
Published three times a year and available online, this
publication carries items of specific interest to Fellows,
as well as consumers, advocates, public health officers,
and local, state and national maternal and child health
organizations. Sponsor will receive corporate recognition
on the front page of the publication.
NFIMR Bulletins $6,500 per bulletin
Published three times a year, these educational periodicals
provide in-depth information of interest to Fellows
and local, state and national maternal and child health
(MCH) professionals. Recent topics include Addressing
Racial Disparities, Cross Cultural Expressions of Grief and
Loss, and Coordinating MCH Mortality Reviews. In addition,

New Project Awards $20,000 per site
NFIMR is piloting new FIMR programs to improve local
services and resources for women, infants and families.
Opportunities for corporate support include funding
for two, two-year local demonstration projects based on

Global Women’s Health
Established in 2011, the Office of Global Women’s Health works to expand the College’s initiatives by addressing
women’s health problems in low-resource settings around the world. The Office of Global Women’s Health develops
critical infrastructure for the accreditation of residency programs and the administration of certification examinations
in Central and South America.
Expanded activities are aimed at rapidly accelerating the reduction of maternal mortality and morbidity in Sub-
Saharan Africa and South Asia. The College anticipates participating in several public-private partnerships for this
work, as well as facilitating bilateral relationships between universities in the US and other countries, and fostering
the development and participation of ob-gyn societies in the efforts to address maternal health problems in their

International

These conferences for emergency obstetric care will
allow the College to share best practices with non-US
based ob-gyns.
Junior Fellow and

address working in global low-resource settings in an
effective, sustainable, and culturally competent way.
Resource Database $10,000
This database will assist our members by matching

The Research Fellowships Program funds innovative research by exemplary young physicians who are

• Maternal-Fetal Medicine
Fellowships in maternal-fetal medicine allow for the
exploration of care for women with complicated
and/or high-risk pregnancies — including diagnostic
and therapeutic techniques for management, nutrition
in pregnancy, and best collaborative practices
between MFM subspecialists and primary providers.
• Reproductive Endocrinology/Infertility
Research grants in reproductive endocrinology/infertility
offer the opportunity for recipients to study
and treat not only infertility, but any reproductive
disorder that affects children, women, men and the
mature woman.
• Gynecologic Oncology
Support in gynecologic oncology may focus on diagnosis,
patient care and counseling, carcinogenesis,
invasion and metastasis, genetics, tumor immunology,
chemotherapy, pharmacology, radiation therapy, surgical
procedures and palliative care.
• Urogynecology
The examination of urogynecology/pelvic floor
disorders seeks to improve the quality of life for
women by exploring surgical and non-surgical treatment
options for women who suffer from incontinence
or prolapsing cervix and uterus dysfunction.
• Quality Improvement
Research fellowships in quality improvement may
range from patient safety projects investigating
medication adherence, health literacy, patient education
and human factor engineering, to hospital and
private practice quality improvement, including continuity
of care, outcomes performance measurement,
risk management, cultural competency/sensitivity
and second victim support.
• Women’s Health and Well-Being
The College welcomes progressive research in any
field that affects women’s health. Possible additional
areas of research may include weight control, diet
and exercise, depression, postpartum depression,
migraines and geriatric women’s health.
