In Remembrance of Former ACOG Vice President of Education, Dr. Gerald Bruce Holzman
Today, we remember former ACOG Vice President of Education Dr. Gerry Holzman, who died on Saturday, March 5.
Before serving ACOG from 1994-2001, Dr. Holzman dedicated most of his professional career to patient care, medical education, and research, holding academic medical positions at Johns Hopkins University, University of California Los Angeles, Michigan State University, and Medical College of Georgia. Throughout his life, he also held leadership positions in numerous medical organizations: President, Lansing Obstetrical Society; President, Medical College of Georgia Faculty Senate; and President, Council of Medical Specialty Society. He was also a pioneer for computers and technology in medical education.
His patients often talked about his compassionate and caring nature while his students' appreciated his professionalism and breath of knowledge. His life work will be carried on by the numerous medical students and OB/GYN residents who not only learned the fundamentals of OB/GYN from Dr. Holzman, but also how each and every patient should be attended to with empathy, kindness and care.
