In Memory of Dr. Julian (Bill) Parer, MD, FACOG
Dr. Julian (Bill) Parer, 81, died on August 4, 2016, while hiking with his dog James on Mt. Tamalpais in Marin County, California. Dr. Parer was a perinatologist on the faculty at University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) for the past 42 years, where he trained many residents and Fellows. His many professional accomplishments included serving as a fellowship director and division director, running a very successful CME course on Antepartum and Intrapartum Management for 40 years, and creating the 5-tier algorithm for fetal heart rate management. He was also an active member of the Pacific Coast Obstetrical and Gynecological Society (PCOGS).
Bill is survived by his wife Robin, his son ("Bud"), and a granddaughter Sinclaire. He was born in Australia, attended medical school at the University of Washington, completed his residency at Los Angeles County/University of Southern California, and obtained a PhD in Physiology in Corvallis, Oregon.
