ACOG Congratulates Dr. Diana Bianchi, New NICHD Director
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) congratulates Dr. Diana Bianchi on her new role as the director of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD).
A practicing medical geneticist with a focus on noninvasive prenatal testing who is board certified in pediatrics, genetics and neonatal-perinatal medicine, Dr. Bianchi serves as founding executive director of the Mother Infant Research Institute at Tufts Medical Center and vice chair for pediatric research at Floating Hospital for Children. She is also the Natalie V. Zucker Professor of Pediatrics, and Obstetrics and Gynecology at Tufts University School of Medicine and the editor-in-chief of the international journal Prenatal Diagnosis.
As NICHD director, Dr. Bianchi will oversee research on pediatric health and development, maternal health, medical rehabilitation, population dynamics, reproductive health, and intellectual and developmental disabilities, according to the NIH release on her appointment. She is expected to begin her new role on October 31, 2016.
