Important Legislative Information for Texas Ob-Gyns

Political advisors to ACOG District XI and TAOG have alerted us that legislation will be introduced during the Texas 83rd Legislative Session in 2013 that affect women’s health, directed at both patients and providers:

  • Government interference in doctor patient communication.
  • Major policy and funding changes in the Texas Medicaid Program.
  • Restrictions on access to abortion that could also implicate other aspects of obstetrical care.
  • Dictating the clinical practice of medicine.

Because of these challenges, we are establishing a grassroots coalition of interested citizens to support or challenge proposed legislation as appropriate. Please review this letter for more information on these issues and the coalition.
