You've been up all night with one delivery or ER consult after another. Your neck aches and your back is stiff. Tension reigns, irritation bubbles, and memory snafus occur. The stress seems infinite. A solution is to find your breath. Sounds easy, but in reality breath awareness is often missing for those whose job requires constant brainpower. Inhale your breath by allowing the belly to expand, the ribs to spread, and inviting the heart to lift. Exhale your breath by allowing the chest to soften and drawing the belly inward. Repeat this for several cycles. This simple attention to your breath in the present moment can permit physiologic and mental relaxation to occur.
