Perinatal Depression Initiative

Perinatal Depression

Approximately one fourth to one third of women will experience clinically significant depression in their lifetime, with depression being particularly common in women of childbearing years. ACOG District II's Perinatal Depression Initiative is an effort to improve ob-gyns' capacity to screen, assess and manage perinatal depression through the provision of education, tools and resources.

A District II perinatal depression taskforce lead by Dr. Renee Samelson has developed a grand rounds curriculum and a depression tool kit. See links below for more information.

For more information about the perinatal depression initiative, please contact Kristin Zielinski, Director of Medical Education at or (518) 436-3461.
