American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists: Cultural Awareness and Sensitivity in Women’s Health Care
This website from the College includes a video training series and slide sets for providers, as well as links to Committee Opinions and other resources on cultural competence.
American Indian Health
This site from the National Library of Medicine has links to sources of information on a variety of health topics, including traditional healing, tribal information, and statistics.
American Medical Association Minority Affairs Section
The Minority Affairs Section provides a national forum for advocacy on minority health issues and professional concerns of minority physicians and medical students.
Center for Healthy Families and Cultural Diversity
This center offers education and training on the provision of high quality, culturally competent health care. The website includes links to resources and organizations dealing with cross-cultural health.
This site by the University of Washington Medical Center includes tip sheets for clinicians to increase awareness about patients from diverse cultures. End-of-life care information is also included.
Cross Cultural Health Care Program (CCHCP)
The CCHCP offers online information, books, videos, and cultural competency training programs for physicians and interpreters.
Department of Health and Human Services: Minority Health
This website has links to resources on cultural competency, health literacy, interpreting, limited English proficiency, multicultural research, refugee health, and resources in multiple languages.
DiversityRx has resources for learning about language and cultural competence in health care. The website includes resources on organizational cultural competence, language access, law and policy, research, and training programs.
Equity of Care
This organization’s goal is to eliminate health care disparities and improve quality of care. The website includes a blog and links to resources on disparities and cultural competence.
This site has information about cultural beliefs and medical issues related to the health care of recent immigrants. The site also has links to foreign language patient education materials.
This website has information on models for offering language services in Latino populations, developing Spanish materials, interpreter services, and a resource library.
Intercultural Cancer Council (ICC)
The ICC works to eliminate cancer disparities among racial and ethnic minorities and medically underserved populations. The website includes fact sheets on cancer and various minority groups.
Multicultural Health Clearinghouse
This website from the University of Illinois provides health and wellness information for underrepresented population groups and links to other health information resources.
National Alliance for Hispanic Health
This website has information on Hispanic health, including resources for professionals, patient information, a political action forum, and links to resources such as fact sheets and health-related telephone helplines.
National Center for Cultural Competence (NCCC)
NCCC resources include full-text publications, definitions of cultural and linguistic competency, tools and processes for self-assessment, and information in Spanish.
National Council on Interpreting in Health Care (NCIHC)
The NCIHC promotes culturally competent health care interpreting as a means to support equal access to health care for individuals with limited English proficiency.
National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities
The NIMHD promotes minority health and leads the NIH effort to reduce and eliminate health disparities. It includes links to information on NIH health disparities programs.
National Resource Center on Advancing Emergency Preparedness for Culturally Diverse Communities
This is a clearinghouse of resources and information on emergency preparedness for diverse communities. The website includes resources on cultural competency, training and education, translated resources in many languages, and more.
Office of Minority Health (OMH) - Cultural and Linguistic Competency
The OMH’s cultural competency site includes recommendations for national standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS). The site also has statistics, publications, and links to other cultural competency resources.
Provider’s Guide to Quality and Culture
This website helps health care organizations provide culturally competent services to multi-ethnic populations. It includes information on patient-provider interaction, health disparities, cultural groups, and culturally competent organizations.
Think Cultural Health
This site, sponsored by the U.S. Office of Minority Health, offers free online cultural competency continuing education programs, guides for physicians and nurses on culturally competent care, and more.
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) - Office for Civil Rights
The OCR helps to protect against discrimination in health and social services. The site includes resources on health information privacy and civil rights.
U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) – Minority Health
This website from the FDA has resources for minority communities on safe medication use, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, and more. Resources for health professionals are also available.
Utah Department of Health – Cultural Competence
This site contains information on training and workshops, CD-ROMs, books, and videos on cultural competency in health care.
